Sax and Violins Audio for Media

Why audio is half of the production in creating videos

Would the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” have the same vibe if they used different music? No. For me the music in the movie truly gave personality to Peter Quill and overall life to the movie. Watching the guardians rock, especially baby Groot, out as they take on their enemies really engages the audience. Music was carefully selected in this trilogy to have a similar feeling which tied all 3 movies together, 4 if you include the Christmas Special.

The music has become part of the brand just as much as the characters themselves. Example, when you hear the song “hooked on a feeling” by Bjorn Skifs and Blue Swede do you think of the band, the radio station or do you think of the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”? Another example where music has been a big part of the movie is my video posted on YouTube “Paper Guns” without adding my song to this video it would have made absolutely no sense at all. The song added depth to video by giving it attitude and justifying actions portrayed.

Of course, audio is not just about the music. Have you ever tried watching a video where the vocals were distorted and covered by a windy hiss? Most videos that have poor audio quality are quickly dismissed even if they have a great image. Another aspect to think about is sound effects. The right sound effects can really draw in an audience or amplify emotion in a scene.
